This past year, we’ve been working to collect donations for two local charities here in Columbia. Olive and I wanted to take some time and provide some information on each charity we are helping. This week we’ll be sharing information about the Ronald McDonald House Charity.
The Ronald McDonald House Charity has been around since 1974 and their focus is to help families with sick children and provide them with comfort and support. Here in Columbia, our local Ronald McDonald House Charity provides two main services: the Ronald McDonald House and the Ronald McDonald Family Room.
The Ronald McDonald House has sixteen bedrooms so they can provide a comfortable environment where families can rest, enjoy home-cooked meals, relax, access laundry facilities and receive a network of support so they can focus on helping their children.
The Ronald McDonald Family Room provides an oasis from the hustle and bustle of the hospital corridors and crowded waiting rooms. The Family Room is located within the Prisma Children’s Hospital and offers refreshments, craft time, internet access and the help from their volunteers.
There are several ways that we can help the Ronald McDonald House Charities, you can donate your money, your time, or even help by cooking or catering dinner for the families. We’ve decided to collect some items from their wish list this year along with collecting pop tabs for them.
